Aaron and Wrenn

07.27.10  |  Weddings

Wrenn had her gorgeous dress hanging in the window when I arrived. She was checking it over before I took a few photos.

Her hair stylist helped her with some last minute hair details!

Aaron was getting ready in another room but soon headed to the Modern Wing to wait Wrenn's arrival.

Back in the ladies room...

Wrenn was making the perfect bow.

Her sister helped her out.

Her sister, niece and mother made sure she was ready for Aaron.

And we were off!

Her flowers from Christine Noelle Design were outstanding!

Aaron was all set for Wrenn to head up the beautiful staircase at the Art Institute to see each other for the first time that day!

Her dress was covered in little feathers that attached to Aaron's suit jacket in a matter of seconds!

After the "clean up", we headed around the stunning museum.

Practicing their first dance amongst the gorgeous statues.

I love this one.

We scouted out some great spots pre-wedding and kept a steady pace around the museum on the wedding day. We hit a ton of great spots!

Definitely the center of attention!

I really love the shapes in this one!

One of their favorite pieces in the galleries.

I couldn't resist the colors here!

Love this shot of the bride.

Playing around near the Pollock.

The security just thought we were nuts.

We met up with the bridal party in the lobby to head across the street for more photos.

The skies were not looking nice but we kept going!

The rain eventually got us! It was over in minutes and we headed to the ceremony on the terrace of the Modern Wing.

This is the face of a bride whose dress gets stepped on. I see this about 40 times a year! =)

This guy begged for me to take his picture. I am still not quite sure why!!?

And we arrived without a drop of rain on the dress!

The guests were ready for the big show.

Don't worry, the rain is long gone!

Aaron gives his mother a big hug and his father was as proud as ever.

Watching Wrenn head his way!

She was escorted by both her mother and father.

I love her mother's expression here!

The view of the ceremony amidst Roger Hiorns' sculpture. It was pretty fantastic!

The birds were flying overhead during the "i do's".

Aaron's father and Wrenn's mother participate in the ceremony.

Wrenn's father.

Aaron's parents.

Wrenn's brother performed the ceremony.

The bride was all smiles!

Exchanging vows.

I love the single bird in the sky.

That's it!

Some details from their day.

The chuppah and the architecture of the Modern Wing looked very cool side by side.

Wrenn's mother had a student from Columbia College design these creative place cards for the reception.

An awesome wedding program!

Her mother also found someone to create these giant paper flowers. They looked amazing in the beautifully lit room.

The tables were full of bright colors.

I am a little obsessed with craspedia's. I love these flowers!

And the rings!

They wasted no time in getting the party started!

The first dance.

A dip.

And a hora!

Wrenn's mother starts the speeches.

Her father joins in.

Her sister.

Aaron's brother.

Aaron was touched by his brother's heartfelt speech. It was pretty great!

Wrenn's niece was too concerned with her spaghetti to care about the speeches! =)

I love Aaron's expression when he thanked everyone for coming.

His father joined the fun facial expressions!

Wrenn dances with her father.

Aaron and his mother get the dance floor going!

We stepped outside for some night shots.

So glad we did!!!

Thanks for the amazing night. Have a blast on your journey.

Briana and Jamie

07.27.10  |  Engagements

Briana and Jamie are getting married next month. They wanted to squeeze in an engagement session before they exchange vows at the very cool, A New Leaf.

How cute is he? He does not look too impressed with me here!

A mural that I just can't get enough of!

The urban landscape.

Love this.

Briana was posing for this one! Um, Jamie!?

Love this mural in Wicker Park!

We found some great loading docks near Grand.

I really love this one.

Making use of an old ladder we found in the alley.

It's like this dumpster knew we were coming!

Fulton Market!

I cheated on the Kinzie Street bridge this time.

See you next month!

Adrienne and Kevin

07.26.10  |  Weddings

Adrienne was getting ready at one of the coolest salons in Chicago, Strange Beauty Show.

Kevin was at the hotel taking care of business.

Back at the salon, Adrienne was getting her veil on.

A "Mommy Dearest" moment.

Soon to be...

Apparently, this is how her friend calms down. She was giving the bride some advice on doing so before they helped her in the wedding dress.

Their first official piece of mail as Mr. and Mrs. Adams!

It was another hot day in Chicago. We quickly made our way to the air conditioned Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Lakeview.

We were greeted by the grooms mother and sister-in-law, Sarah, who also helped coordinate the day!

A "must" before heading down the aisle!

The amazing church.

She was hamming it up for me the entire ceremony.

Kevin checks out the long line of guests waiting for communion.

The newlyweds go hide from the guests before making their big exit.

We headed to Roscoe Village for some wedding party photos.

I love this shot of Adrienne.

The guys.

The girls.

One of the bridesmaids showing of her stylish kicks!

It was nice just taking a stroll through Roscoe Village.

A local stopped the couple to wish them well.

One of the groomsmen prevented the bride from getting drenched!

We ended up at one of the bridesmaids beautiful and very colorful home.

They had created the design from the wedding program in sidewalk chalk outside to surprise Adrienne.

We headed inside to cool off and enjoy the BBQ that awaited.

The bride held her Corona bouquet (not really) while the girls bustled her dress.

Some of the details at the house.

The delicious food from Smoque. SO good. Definitely check this place out if you haven't already.

I am sneaky.

Adrienne and Kevin posed with their friends who introduced them!

And then it was BBQ time!

They ran upstairs to practice their first dance before we headed to the reception.

I had to get a shot of this before we left. Their friends drew on a photo frame and this was my favorite quote!

Adrienne finally had a chance to kick up her feet before the big party at Promontory Point.

Some decided to nap.

Others took in the view from Lake Shore Drive.

Adrienne was getting tons of wedding wishes on Facebook as we headed to the reception.

A few details from their reception site.

Food For Thought provided the delicious hors d'oeuvres.

The matchbooks for the sparklers that they lit at the end of the night.

Yes, that is the security guard that the city of Chicago provided for their reception. He was supposed to keep the locals from passing through their reception site. He was on the bench when I arrived and he was on the bench when I left. Let's hope he does not read this post. =)

She was in love with that camera. Look who is in the background of this picture!

Adrienne's mother passed away this year. I really love the photo that Adrienne gave me to use at the cocktail hour. It was nice to honor her mother's memory.

They had games on the lawn for their guests.

It was a hit!

I love the head tilt in this one. =)

I met Adrienne while shooting Sarah and Stephen's wedding. Sarah is now expecting so we had to do a quick photo shoot!

The awesome view from the south shore.

The guests cheered them on for their very cool first dance.

Their father's wanted an encore. They did get an encore later, in the lawn!

Some outdoor speeches.

Kevin's brother.

Adrienne's father.

Adrienne and her father dance lakeside.

Kevin and his mother.

They wanted a quick shot inside the lighthouse at Promontory Point before I headed home.

We also ran to the lake for some more photos!

I couldn't leave without using my sparklers!

It was great getting to know you both. Have fun together!!

Dawn and Ben

07.26.10  |  Engagements

Dawn and Ben were nice enough to let Jarrod tag along for his first shoot with me. I am so glad they let him come to the shoot because it was a blast!

They were awesome! They had a great place in Logan Square where we started and ended our shoot. They welcomed us in their home to start with.

We stepped outside for some gardening.

They had some beautiful landscape going on. I guess they should considering that is what Ben does for a living!

We had to use the garden hose!

Dawn got out the hula hoop for a cute shot!

Her dad was all smiles watching her being silly.

And then things got even sillier!

We headed down the street for some raspberry pickin'.

Dawn and Ben weren't the only ones tasting the berries. Me and Jarrod were loving them too!

And then some edible flowers.

They got their bikes out for a few shots. I love this one.

Dawn shows off her mad biking skillz. Yes, with a "z".

If you look close enough you can spot a rainbow. =)

The light rain made for some awesome shots!

This is the spot where Ben was just approved to start a beautiful landscaped trail near their house. Can't wait to come back and shoot here on their wedding day!

I may have to start doing all of my shoots in Logan Square!

The birds were getting out of the storm. And fast!

But we danced in it!

And then they ran to the next spot.

A few quick shots.

Ben wanted to shoot near this graffiti. I never say no to graffiti. =)

A random swing right in the heart of Logan Square.

We finished our session playing in their front yard. Yes, they have a yard. Anyone else jealous?

I am a little obsessed with this shot. I think Dawn looks gorgeous!

Seriously, unforgettable. Can't wait to see you both again.

Ashley and Scott

07.26.10  |  Engagements

Ashley and Scott jumped in my car and we toured the city together. My favorite way to shoot engagement sessions!

Our first stop was near Bottom Lounge and this VW van fell from heaven. I would love to own it. So cool!

We definitely used it to our advantage.

After we took advantage of the van we headed down the street to find some more great spots.

I love this one!

Lake Street.

Couldn't pass this up!

We left downtown and headed to Montrose Harbor. I do not get to shoot here often and I forgot what a great spot it is!

Scott's shoes took center stage!

Some lake shots.

The bird sanctuary is definitely one of Chicago's hidden gems! Love it.

They played around with sunglasses, hats and bubbles!

Love props!

They let me make them look miniature in a few shots.

And then we ran over to their place to photograph them with their best friends.

I love the painting on the wall of their apartment that Ashley is working on.

Those dogs are too much!

See you at the wedding next month!
