I was very excited to be with Jeremy and Steven on their wedding day… this creative and fun couple were saying “I do” at the Museum of Contemporary Art here in Chicago, and the three of us had so many interesting ideas for photos. Plus, the couple was working with Elizabeth from Anticipation Events, so I knew every detail would be perfect. I couldn’t be happier with how the images turned out!
The day started at the couple’s home in Evanston. Jeremy was waiting as patiently as possible, counting the minutes until it was time to head downtown.
Luckily, there were two cuddly, lovable pups on hand to divert his attention.
Steven was ready to go, too, but before we left the house…
…he and Jeremy shared a drink in the company of their pups.
We moved outside of their home for a few portraits in front of this brilliantly red maple tree. The day was rainy, but there was no dampening the spirits of the couple as they made jokes and enjoyed their time together.
We headed downtown to Adler Planetarium, hoping to get a picture in front of the Chicago skyline. The moody fall weather prevented that, as you can see, but did provide us with an opportunity to take some wonderful black and white portraits.
Look at those smiles! Their excitement and enthusiasm was contagious!
During a stop at the LaSalle Bridge, Jeremy and Steven shared a champagne toast. I love this idea… I should encourage more couples to share a toast during our shoots!
And, of course, no wedding day is complete without a couple’s selfie.
Next stop: the MCA. We arrived at the venue with plenty of time to take photos around the museum. Jeremy and Steven appreciate the MCA and its art, and they wanted to spend as much time as possible taking pictures around the exhibits. And, of course, I was happy to oblige!
Finally, it was time for the ceremony. Jeremy and Steven’s family and friends gathered together to witness the ceremony, which was so beautiful and heartfelt. There’s wasn’t a dry eye in the house!
Jeremy’s mom and niece were seated in the front row, and they both loved the custom made projection that was used as a backdrop.
A friend of Jeremy and Steven’s officiated the ceremony and she did a lovely job. There were many special moments throughout the proceedings, as reflected in the next series of images:
Whew!! With vows and rings exchanged, Jeremy and Steven were officially official. Congratulations, guys! Now, on to the party!!
This beastie held watch over the party. The guests were able to relax and enjoy themselves knowing that they were in its capable care.
Check out these banquet tables. Every detail was perfect and gorgeous… there were more than a few gasps as guests entered the room.
After a delicious meal, Jeremy and Steven were treated to toasts in their honor, delivered by their close family and friends.
The newlyweds shared their first dance together as husbands…
…and then their guests joined them on the dance floor. And boy, was this crew ever ready to party! See for yourself in this collection of images from Steven and Jeremy’s dance party:
What a day! And what a couple! Congratulations on your marriage, Steven and Jeremy… and thank you for sharing your day with me!
