Julie and Spencer are getting married in June of next year. I’ll be right there with them, photographing the big day.
We met up for their engagement session a few weeks ago, and decided to explore the city.
I started off by taking them to one of my favorite spots. We had a great day for photos… not a cloud in the sky!
They got a few quick kisses in by the ivy wall.
And then we hit the streets.
One of my favorite aspects of an engagement session is getting to know my clients better as we navigate the city streets.
I was thrilled that we were at this spot at exactly the right moment for this kind of light. Gorgeous!
Next up, I showed them some of my favorite bright-colored murals.
Julie and Spencer are getting married at the Chicago Botanic Garden, which is one of my favorite places to shoot at.
And these two are going to be a joy to photograph in the gardens.
We stopped for a few shots in front of this elaborate fire escape…
…and the happy couple broke out into a spontaneous dance recital! These two have some mad dancing skills.
Another wonderful spot for photos is the Bloomingdale Trail. One of my former clients volunteers his efforts to preserve this path, which is built on the former Bloomingdale rail line.
There’s a lot of great street art to look at as you navigate the trail.
And the trail has been the backdrop for some of my favorite photos.
All that walking made us work up quite a thirst. A milkshake from Irazu hit the spot.
It was great working with you, Julie and Spencer. I’m looking forward to photographing your Botanic Garden wedding next summer!
