Does this Chicago building look familiar? It’s the skyscraper right next to Grant Park, where Katie’s parents live, and I was there to photograph Katie as she got ready for her marriage to Marty.
Here are her dress and shoes, on full display in front of this magnificent view of Grant Park.
And here’s Katie, who looked incredible. Krystyn helped out with makeup, and her hair was done by Beth from Epoch Salon.
Katie was ready to go, and the bridesmaids were almost done, too.
Katie’s flower girl helped me pass some time by posing for the camera.
Everyone was ready to go and excited to start the big day!
Meanwhile, Leah was in the groom’s suite at the Hyatt Regency Chicagowith Marty as he got ready with the help of his groomsmen.
The crew was having a lot of fun while doing so, too.
Marty was all smiles as he rode to have his first look at Katie.
Their first meeting was in the gardens by the Glessner House Museum.
Marty could hardly contain his excitement when he got the call that Katie was close.
He checked her out, head to toe…
…and front to back.
Then the happy couple and I took off for some pre-ceremony photos.
It was a beautiful day to be shooting outside, too.
What a gorgeous couple.
Katie made Marty presentable…
…and the wedding party joined us for some group shots.
Katie posed for a picture with her bridesmaids and his sister, the one on the far end, had to get in a funny face.
The whole gang left the garden and boarded the trolley.
Next up was the harbor, where Katie and Marty quickly jumped out for pictures on the pier.
Back on the trolley…
The wedding party was having a great time.
Katie’s brothers were there, too, serving as the ushers for the big day.
We pulled up in front of Holy Family Parish and were greeted by this smiling face:
Marty took his place at the altar…
…and soon after, Katie was escorted down the aisle by her father.
Marty’s grandmother was beaming as Katie took her place next to Marty.
Katie and Marty kneeled, and the service began.
Katie’s mom couldn’t keep her eyes off her daughter.
The church was beautiful, and full of light for the ceremony.
The wedding party joined the couple at the altar as they began exchanging vows.
Katie put the ring on Marty’s finger.
One restless guest turned around to ask if the ceremony was almost over.
Sure enough, it was! Katie and Marty were pronounced husband and wife. Congratulations!
The wedding party made tracks over to The Scout for the celebratory first round.
Here’s to Marty and Katie!
Back on the trolley, the groomsmen kept the party going.
Marty’s sister popped open the first bottle of bubbly.
Somebody needs to slow down. Take it easy, girl! Actually, I made her do this. I love a fun wedding party!
The guys were all very excited to get to the reception!
And it was about that time!
We pulled up in front of the reception venue, Chicago Illuminating Company, and found this bus parked next door. There was no way we were going to walk by without a photo.
Who doesn’t love an impromptu dance party!?!?
Inside, the guests were enjoying cocktail hour.
Just before Food for Thought served the dinner, Katie and Marty made their big entrance.
While people finished eating, Marty’s best man took the mic to make a toast.
Next up was the maid of honor with her speech in honor of the newlyweds.
Katie’s dad was all smiles during the speeches.
Then Katie and Marty shared their first dance as husband and wife.
Marty was really getting into it!
And Katie shared a father-daugher dance with her dad.
Then everyone hit the dance floor. Get those hands in the air!
Party girls!
Marty’s dad and sister showed everyone how to work a dance floor.
I got scolded… how was she supposed to dance with my camera in her face!?!?
This partygoer and I shared the same face as we watched this flexible dancer. Ouch!
Laura from Toast & Jam was getting the crowd whipped up into a frenzy!
Everyone was having a great time… the party was a complete success. Thanks were due to Katie’s friend- also named Katie- who’s an event planner from The Savvy Event and helped to make sure the day went smoothly.
I grabbed a quick shot of the rings on the menu from 404 Wine Bar. This is where Katie and Marty shared their first date.
Thanks to you both for having me photograph your very fun day. Congrats!
